My friend Libin recently got a new iPhone… WOW. This thing is an awesome piece of engineering.
I was walking in downtown Toronto the other day and passed a couple people who regularly pan-handle in the area. The man sitting down began to speak as I walked by and said “hi”. I turned around and automatically said “No, sorry” thinking he would ask for change, but instead he was saying “have a nice day”. WOW. I was completely thrown off and it really made me change my perspective. As we laughed together and I walked off, I couldn’t get the experience out of my mind. It was such a positive reinforcement to counter-act the regular stereotypes of homeless people. I hope more people can have experiences such as this.

What a nice experience, Krista. Thanks for sharing it in this discussion forum.

My husband would fuuuullllllllyyyyy agree with you!
Funny enough, my last wow factor was a random act of kindness in Toronto.
I was taking my friend downtown, whom never comes to Toronto, so she had no idea how to get to Queen St West and Yonge. We went to hop on the subway early in the morning and of course, as usual, the subway was delayed. Since we were short on time, we decided to take a cab downtown. Since the subway was delayed, about 400 other people decided to take a cab as well. So there were no cabs.
As I was trying to flag a non-existent cab down, this woman and her teenager pulled up in front of us and offered us a ride. She drove my friend and I all the way downtown, wouldn’t take gas money, and was as friendly as a west-coaster ;) I was shocked, I’ve never seen that before in Toronto… it’s usually go-go-go… survival of the fittest…
Great experience, Adam! I think we can learn a lot from these “human experiences”. By the way, thanks for joining so quickly my new community. WOW!!!
I was waiting for a wow experience that would measure up to these, but nothing really happened… until a few days ago.
I was walking down the street in Toronto, and this car with that open roof style came by blasting its music pretty loud. But it wasn’t hip-hop or anything, it was actually Coldplay’s new song Viva La Vida. Since I like that song and know most of the words, I started singing, like I usually do when I’m walking down the street. Only this time instead of looking at my like I’m crazy, a few people joined in! Wow, it was quite a crazy moment, a bunch of totally random strangers singing a song in the middle of the day… never happened to me before.
Any other wow moments to share? This is quite an interesting conversation, it’s odd to see how a bunch of the wow moments here have to do with random good happenings on the street.

Oren, I think you should consider changing job and becoming a singer, if you are able to attract audiences so easily ….. :-) Thanks for your contribution. I think I should come to Toronto one day, seems to be a great wow-city ….
Heard a kid (11 years old), play a beatles song on the guitar. It touched my heart, and brought tears to my eyes. I made some friends watch the video – they all had tears in their eyes, confirming that the music was definitely ethereal.
WOW for me :)
On youtube – search “Sungha Jung”. Watch one of the “While my guitar gently weeps” videos (the Eric Schoenberg arrangement). I think I’ve posted this before, while replying to oLahav.
Cheers!
Last night I’ve watched the movie ‘Thank you for smoking’ with Aaron Eckhart…I think the movie is WOW.
